Assistant Chocolate Maker
We are hiring! Our ideal assistant chocolate maker will bring an optimistic attitude to Bellflower, humility, effective collaboration skills, and an eagerness to learn. We are interested in people who are comfortable with ambiguity, open to collaboration, and take ownership over their role and are interested in bringing purpose and meaning to their work. Responsibilities of this role include:
Performing all steps of our production process: inspecting beans, roasting, cracking, winnowing, starting batches, tempering, and molding chocolate, as well as tasting and evaluating chocolate bars for flavor and quality.
Cleaning and maintaining our production facility.
This is a part-time job, 8-12 hours per week initially in our Queen Anne location. While we understand that life is unpredictable, we are prioritizing candidates who are willing to commit to this role for at least six months and who may be interested in working with Bellflower longer term.
About You
You are an optimistic, enthusiastic food lover, passionate about simple, honest, sustainable food, where it originates and how its production affects society. You are a great collaborator, seeking and open to others opinions and constructive feedback. You are also comfortable with ambiguity: you don’t wait to be told what needs to be done: you see a problem, you solve it. You are curious, fun, and easy to get along with. Bonus points if you bring great playlists to the kitchen speakers!
Chocolate making experience and college degrees not required, but those with food industry experience and open, curious minds preferred.
Compensation
The hourly wage for this position is $15.00. Bellflower Chocolate Company is a small firm and is not currently in a position to offer a benefits package.
